Empowering Women in Agroecology: A Rising Leader from STONEFARMS’ Internship Program

🌱 Nurturing the Next Generation of Female Agricultural Leaders in Cameroon

At STONEFARMS, we believe that the future of sustainable agriculture in Africa lies in empowering young women with practical skills, leadership opportunities, and real-world experience.

As part of our ongoing commitment to climate-smart agriculture and inclusive development, we are proud to spotlight one of our outstanding female interns—an inspiring example of resilience, excellence, and transformation.

👩‍🌾 From Classroom to Field Leadership
Coming from a reputable higher institution, our intern joined STONEFARMS with a passion for agriculture but limited hands-on experience.
During her internship, she was immersed in practical, field-based learning, where she actively participated in:
Land preparation and field layout
Use of mechanized tools, including earth augers
Crop establishment and monitoring
Agroecological best practices
Team coordination and field supervision
What sets her apart is not just participation—but leadership in action.

In a field traditionally dominated by men, she confidently handled equipment, contributed to decision-making, and inspired her peers through dedication and discipline.

💡 Breaking Barriers, Redefining Possibilities

Her journey reflects a broader mission: challenging gender norms in agriculture and creating space for women to thrive in technical and leadership roles.

we do not just train, we transform mindsets.

This experience has helped her:
– Build confidence in handling agricultural machinery
– Develop problem-solving and leadership skills
– Gain practical knowledge in sustainable farming systems
– Position herself as a future professional in agroecology

🎯 Advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
This initiative directly contributes to global development priorities, including:
– SDG 5 – Gender Equality: Promoting equal participation of women in agriculture
– SDG 4 – Quality Education: Providing hands-on, experiential learning
– SDG 8 – Decent Work & Economic Growth: Enhancing employability and entrepreneurship
– SDG 13 – Climate Action: Training youth in sustainable and climate-smart practices
